The American Restaurant in Kansas City

In the late 1960s, the founder of Hallmark built the Crown Center in an effort to revive this area of Kansas City. The Center's crown jewel was the American Restaurant, designed by Warren Platner.

Azulejo is a form of Spanish and Portugese tilework found on the interior and exterior of public and residential structures. Besides its ornamental value, this tile serves to moderate temperatures. source

Star-architect Rem Koolhaas showed reverence to the century-old Portugese tradition of Azulejo by incorporating it into his starkly modern Casa da Musica in Porto. source
